Goodwood Revival 2013
The Goodwood Revival, Sussex, 13-15 September 2013
The Garrison's forth year at the Goodwood Revival saw the first outing pf the new Malta Command plotting board. Ably assisted by members of the Historic Maritime Society (HMS) and the Malta Command WW2 Living History Group, waves of Axis bombers were punctually fought off ('every hour, on the half hour'), and convoys brought safely into Valetta’s Grand Harbour.
Whilst the weather was hardly Mediterranean, and khaki drill uniforms not quite the most practical attire for a cold and wet autumn weekend in Sussex, everything seemed to go extremely well and a good time was had by all. As in previous years, our prime location within the Mess hospitality area provided an excellent base from which to put on our display, and also to enjoy the racing and proximity to the celeb laden paddock. At one stage I even had to have a word with Chris Evans... he was right in the way when I was trying to photograph John Surtees!
As always thanks to Keith for the organisation and making the event happen, and to Andy, Geoff, Pam and all those who transported the kit. Also to Cliff and all those who built the new plotting board and props; and to the members of Malta Command who travelled all the way to wet and windy England to take part in the display and provide an authentic Maltese presence.
